This 4,000 sq.ft. holiday home in Vadakara opens out to uninterrupted views of the Arabian Sea, offering its residents a peaceful escape from the everyday. Designed for Mr. and Mrs. Jayaraj, the brief was rooted in simplicity: a home that feels open, abundant in natural light, and enveloped in a comfort so deep that leaving should feel difficult. To achieve this, the interiors were anchored in muted, neutral tones that create a serene and timeless environment—one that invites slow living and reflection.

The architectural experience begins long before one enters the home. A striking cantilevered volume extends boldly over the driveway, creating a sheltered passage below and establishing a sense of arrival. This dramatic gesture not only elevates the structure visually but also enhances the flow of the landscape around it. The cantilever is clad in warm timber, its surface catching the shifting sunlight, while textured stone walls beneath ground the design with a sense of permanence and strength.

Nature forms an integral part of this home’s identity. Mature trees have been preserved and integrated into the design, framing the built form and allowing the residence to settle into its surroundings with ease. The interplay of foliage, stone, and wood creates a seamless dialogue between architecture and landscape, softening the contemporary lines and adding depth to the arrival experience.

Inside, every space is designed to amplify the coastal light and capture the tranquillity of the sea beyond. The home becomes a place where time slows, the breeze carries through the open spaces, and each corner feels connected to the outdoors. It is a retreat meant to be lived in deeply—quiet, warm, and anchored in nature.
